Okay folks, it's been some time since I visited the blog page. I guess the busy day to day life or just lack of attention to it, has left me a little "home sick" so to speak.

I ventured to WV over the first week of July for some festivities to WV's largest celebration of July 4th...that small (but with a Big heart) town of Alderson. We spent most of our time where the crowds were promoting our clothing line with new designs set for release for early fall.

I've been setting up and adding to my various pages on Facebook! At some point I think they all need to group together and just be one. Not sure how well that will work considering they are for totally different types of items with different focuses. Anyway...we shall see.

I've finally signed up with most of the media sites to help launch what I hope to be my busiest venture ever...be on the look out for some awesome things from Heirloom Needle Works, the purest heart of my being. It is the sum of what I am about!

Sorting my stash...

I've just recently moved back to Tennessee and brought with me ALL the fabric I own...that includes my scraps, strings, snippets, etc. I really need to get this sorted and ready to sew as soon as I get my work station up and running. These are some of my insperations...

I'm having an affair...with quilts!

Last night I joined a local quilt guild...I'm so excited!!! I also joined and online gathering of quilt lovers! I can't wait to explore them both!

On the road again....

I have to laugh or else I will cry. It's been way past time to "eat crow" as my mother says and return to my husbands home in Tennessee. After an 8 month stint in my home state of West Virginia, we are safely back at home. Someday I will tell the story...

Teaching is a pleasure!

I've spent the day working up outlines and surveys, class plans, etc. for the classes I will begin teaching soon! I'm excited!!!

Southern Country Comfort Food

Over the weekend we went to the most amazing little "down home" cafe! There is a small town in Tennessee called Friendsville, the cafe is called Jacque's Whistle Stop Cafe! The food there was the next best thing to eating at my granny's house. We had the chargrilled chicken, large cut coleslaw and fried green tomatoes, sweet tea and lemonaide then blackberry cobbler for dessert! If you ever get that close then you must make it a point to go by there for a bite to eat.

What a Job!

Through the years I've work "at" many jobs, but was never satified just "working". My passion lies in textiles and the need to create. As a small child I used "recycled" materials to make doll furniture and clothing for them all. My grandmother taught me to crochet when I was young (at the request of my father who believed that his mother was doing something she truly loved and he wanted the same for me). In a short period of time, I learned to sew and knit. Later in life I taught myself to quilt, tatt and bobbin weave.

The love of fabric came to me in the early 70's when most "fashionable" clothing was purchased through the mail. Catalogs with small fabric swatches were sent to the "modern" mom. She would choose from the variety of colors and pattern before ordering. Those little "snips" of fabric were given to me! Oh, how thrilled I was to receive such a simple "gift"! I took those little patches and sewed them together using a double strand of thread. I easily had a small "quilt" for one of my dolls!
